A demand that the Israel Government dissolve and hold another national election within the next six months was voiced here today in a resolution adopted at the conclusion of a meeting of the national council of the right-wing Herut Party.
The demand was based on two points: the government’s failure to conclude peace with the Arab states and its failure to achieve satisfactory absorption of the large-scale immigration. The resolution pointed out that as far as the Arab situation was concerned there still is continuous bloodshed along the borders of the Jewish state. Concerning immigration, it pointed to the economic dislocation in the country, asserting that Israel is on the “verge of economic collapse.”
The meeting also issued an appeal to Herut members in Israel and Zionist-Revisionists throughout the world to “prepare seriously” for the forthcoming World Zionist Congress and to make certain that the Revisionist representation is large enough “to convert the World Zionist Organization into a political instrument capable of giving comprehensive aid to world Jewry and introducing a new relationship between the Jewish state and the Jewish people.”
