Tribute to the memory of Dr. Theodore Herzi, founder and leader of political Zionism, on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of his death will be paid today at a memorial meeting at the Hotel Astor. The memorial exercises are being held under the auspices of the Jewish National Fund of America and the New York Zionist Region. The anniversary occurred last Sunday but the entire week has been set aside by American Zionists for commemorating the anniversary and rededicating the adherence of the movement to the ideals advocated by the late leader.
Nelson Ruttenberg, President of the Jewish National Fund of America, will preside at the meeting, at which hundreds of New York Zionists are expected to attend. Morris Rothenberg, President of the Zionist Organization of American; Hon. Carl Sherman, former Attorney General of the State of New York, President of the New York Zionist Region; Jacob De Haas, Abraham Goldberg and Max Rudensky, are among the speakers who will address the gathering.
The liturgical part of the program as well as a number of Palestinain folk songs will be rendered by Rev. Jacob Rapaport, President of the Cantors Association of America and by Cantor Moshe Nathanson of the Society for the Advancement of Judaism.
