The American Zionist Council and the Jewish Agency today designated Saturday, February 12, Herzl Sabbath, as part of a worldwide commemoration of the death of Theodor Herzl, founder of modern Zionism, fifty years ago.

Mrs. Rose Halprin, chairman of the joint Herzl committee of the two organizations, said that rabbis of 2,200 congregations throughout the United States have been requested to devote their sermons on that day to Dr. Herzl and to arrange special events by their Hebrew schools and adult education groups.
