Declaring that Sunday’s demonstration at the YMCA building was the first public demonstration of anti-Semitism in his memory in Manhattan, Heywood Broun, in his syndicated column published in the World-Telegram here, today deplored the “hush-hush” policy in dealing with anti-Semitism and called on “men and women of good will to stand together and mark among themselves no differences of race or creed or color.” He quoted Secretary Harold lckes’ expression of dismay that some Jews opposed the appointment of a Jew as Supreme Court Justice.
