Hezbollah accused Israel of trying to assassinate one of its military planners. A bomb wrecked the car of senior militiaman Hussein Assaf and a bodyguard shortly after they left it in Baalbek, a Hezbollah stronghold in east Lebanon, on Friday. The militia, which has been the source of many terrorist attacks against Israel, accused Israel of involvement and said it would retaliate. Israel denied the charge.
