Six Israeli soldiers were wounded, two seriously, in a roadside explosion Thursday in the southern Lebanon security zone.
The soldiers reportedly were traveling in a convoy of civilian vehicles when an explosive device was set off.
The wounded soldiers were taken to a hospital in Israel.
The Islamic fundamentalist group Hezbollah claimed responsibility for he attack, which came as Lebanon staged a daylong strike to protest Israel’s presence in the zone.
Israeli forces and the Israel-allied South Lebanon Army retailed with heavy artillery fire, security sources said.
