Hezbollah said the Winograd Commission report into last summer’s war proved that the terrorist group had won. The report, released Monday, harshly criticized the Israeli leadership’s handling of the war. Ha’aretz quoted Hezbollah official Nawaf Musawi as telling the group’s Al-Manar television station, “The Winograd report stressed that Hezbollah was victorious and that Israel is beatable.” Although the war laid waste to Lebanon, Musawi called it a “divine victory,” adding that the report proved Israeli officials had underestimated Hezbollah. The group has used the war to gain political leverage in Lebanon. “No one will take us lightly from now on, especially since we have only gained strength of late,” he said.
