The Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society, in a statement by President Abraham Herman, today appealed for support of its $1,000,000 campaign, to “keep open the avenue of escape for the Jewish emigrant and refugee.” The statement pointed out that the HIAS is not included in the United Jewish Appeal, which declined to include “any other than the present beneficiary agencies” in its 1940 campaign.
