Brazilian Foreign Minister Horacio Lafer,who heads his country’s United Nations delegation, discussed plans for the early resettlement of Jewish refugees from trouble spots throughout the world with Murray I. Gurfein, president of United Hias Service, and James P. Rice, executive director, it .was reported today.
For more than five year, Mr. Lafer has played a key role in advancing Brazil’s open door policy toward refugees of all faiths, under the leadership of President Juscelino Kubitschek. During this period, approximately 7,000 Jewish refugees came to Brazil with the help of United Hias Service.
