Senior British Defense Ministry officials and high-ranking armed forces officers were guests tonight at a Chanukah reception given at the Israel Embassy by Col. A. Bengal, Israel’s military, air and naval attache in London.
Defense Minister Harold Macmillan was present, together with Marshal of the Royal Air Force John Dickson and Brigadier Sir John Hunt, leader of the British expedition which conquered Mt. Everest. Also present were diplomatic representatives of the United States, Soviet Union, France and other nations with which Israel maintains diplomatic relations. Members of Parliament, Maj. Gen. Yigal Yadin, retired Chief of Staff of Israel’s Army, and leaders of the Anglo-Jewish community were present.
