Sir Herbert Emerson, League of Nation’s High Commissioner for Refugees, and head of the Inter-Governmental Committee for Refugees, today told a meeting of German-Jewish refugees in Manchester that he has suggested that they be allowed to volunteer for combat service with the British forces and be “given an opportunity to exterminate as many Nazis as possible.”

Sir Herbert stressed that the refugees’ chances of being allowed to remain in England after the end of the war depend on what services they render now.
