High Official of British Foreign Office Arrives in Israel to Discuss Various Problems

Col. Geoffrey Furlonge, head of the Middle Eastern Department of the British Foreign Office, arrived here today for a four-day visit. He will discuss various problems with Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett and other high officials of the Israel Government.

Sir Frank Whittle, British inventor of the jet engine, arrived here today from Cyprus. He declined to make any statement to the press, but the British air attache said that Sir Frank is studying the possibilities of civilian jet air transport.

The Marquis Raimondo Giustiniani, new Italian Minister to Israel, presented his credentials today to President Chaim Weizmann at the President’s residence in Rehovoth. In accordance with the new protocol, no speeches were delivered on the occasion.
