The 43rd annual Histadrut campaign in Greater Boston was launched last night at an initial gifts meeting at the home of Alexander Shapiro, general campaign chairman with a total of $100,000 pledged toward the goal of $180,000 sought this year in Boston. The national goal of the Israel Histadrut campaign is $5,000,000.
The meeting was addressed by Bernard M. Bloomfield of Montreal, president of the Canadian Association for Labor Israel, who stressed the vocational training program of Histadrut in which 10,000 youngsters in Israel are enrolled. Mr. Bloomfield reported that the Histadrut trade school network must double its capacity by 1970 in order to accommodate the teenagers applying for secondary vocational training.
