Mrs. Golda Meir, secretary general of Mapai, praised last night the role of David Dubinsky, former president of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, for his role in helping Israel. She spoke at a dinner given in honor of the American labor leader by Aharon Becker, secretary general of the Histadrut, Israel’s labor federation. Mr. Becker lauded Mr. Dubinsky for helping to build a bridge between Israel and American labor.
Mr. Becker left today for Geneva to attend two important meetings to be held there by the International Labor Organization. First, he will participate in a session of the ILO governing council, of which he is a member. Then he will head a Kistadrut delegation to the annual conference of the entire ILO, which, among other things, is to elect a new governing council. On the council’s agenda are issues affecting the Mediterranean region.
