The Histadrut convention closed here with election of a 350-member council, which will elect a new Histadrut executive. The new executive will be made up of 127 members, including 45 Mapai, 20 Achdut Avoda, 19 Gahal (Herut-Liberal), 18 Mapam, 15 Israel Workers Party (Rafi), six Independent Liberals, and two each for the two factions of the Communist Party.
Histadrut secretary-general Aharon Becker told the delegates labor would be prepared to accept wage restraints if it was assured that all sectors would share the national burden.
