A survey just completed by the Histadruth, the Central Labor Federation of Palestine, has shown once more the full extent of the labor shortage in Palestine. The survey showed that while the Palestine government refuses to open the doors for mass Jewish immigration, industrial, agricultural and building activity is being sharply retarded by the dearth of workers.

Approximately 30,000 dunams of additional orange groves must be planted this autumn and next spring, while Jewish mixed farming also is demanding more workers.

In Tel Aviv, the construction of new buildings is being held up by the lack of workers, while public works and transport work is also at a standstill owing to the lack of labor.
