When a restriction is made of immigration it is “our primary duty to see that there should not be a single unemployed person,” declared Ben Gurion at the opening of the seventh sitting of the council of the General Federation of Jewish Labor. The council dealt with the recent labor trouble at Kfar Saba where 29 workers were arrested in a dispute between the Federation and members of the Brith Trumpeldor society over the proportion of employment.
A special convention of Zionists from all parts of the country is now meeting here to consider a proposal for an extraordinary Zionist Congress after special elections. The municipality of Tel Aviv, an all-Jewish city, has decided to submit a protest against the suspension of immigration. The protest will be based on figures showing the need for labor.
