Historians and other German intellectuals favor a plan to use Steven Spielberg’s interviews with Holocaust survivors as part of Germany’s proposed Holocaust memorial, according to a German newspaper. The plan, put forward by Berlin Mayor Eberhard Diepgen, would combine Spielberg’s Shoah Visual History Foundation archives with an existing exhibit of Nazi documents and photographs called the “Topography of Terror” instead of constructing a new building. The proposed memorial has been mired in controversy for a decade.
