The Committee to investigate the history of Italian Jewry which was formed here recently, Issued an appeal to all Jewish communities and Jewish culonral organizations in the country to assist financially in its undertaking and also to make grants of books, documents and other materials dealing with Jewish history in Italy, in order to enable the committee to issue a complete encyclopedia of the life of Italian Jewry.
SCIENTIFIC FARMING DISCUSSED AT NATIONAL FARM SCHOOL CONFERENCE
The agricultural schools as agencies for the training of farmers and farming for women were discussed at the Friday afternoon session of the National Farm School Conference being held at the Hotel Biltmore. New York.
Dr. Stephen S. Wise presided at the morning session of the conference and at a luncheon to the fifty delegates appointed by the mayors of cities throughout the country.
Ex-Gov. Frank O. Lowden of Illinois and Dr. Warburton of the Department of Agriculture addressed the session.
Other speakers were Ralph Snyder, President of the Kansas State Farm Bureau; J. Floersheim of Roy, N. M.; Grant Wright, executive board, National Farm School; Dr. B. O. Asylesworth, Director of Markets, Denver; Professor L. I. Frisbie, University of Nebraska, and George A. Lambert, Rural Retreat, Va.
The Chairman of the afternoon session, which discussed “Does Scientific Farming Pay?” was Adolph Eichholz of Philadelphia.
A feature of the conference was a series of talks by graduates of the National Farm School at Doyleston, Pa., under whose auspices the conference is being held. The speakers were Jacob Ratner of Morristown. Pa.; Maxmilian Fleischer, superintendent of Inglewood Farms, Gordonville. Pa.; Cecil J. Toor, head of the Pennsbury Farm Corporation, Chadds Ford, Pa.; Harry Zack of the Zack Nurseries, Deep River. Conn.; Sylvan D. Einstein of Norma, N. J.; Dr. J. J. Taubenhaus, chief of the Division of Plant Pathology and Physiology. Texas Agricultural Experiment Station; John B. McCool, Lock Haven, Pa.; Samuel Cooper. Lynchburg, Va.; Lewis Fox, Metuchen. N. J.; David Platt. New York, and M. E. Cohien, Vineland. N. J.
The 250 delegates went to West Point on Saturday. They will visit the National Farm School at Doyleston. Pa., today, after which they will return for an evening meeting at Carnegie Hall.
