A bizarre anti-Semitic book that accuses Jews of selling state property to the West has created a hubbub here.
It is reportedly the first book published in Hungary since the Holocaust to use quotations from Hitler’s “Mein Kampf.”
The book, titled “Conspiracy: The Nietzscheanic Empire,” asserts that Adolf Hitler was a “Zionist agent” hired by rich Austrian Jews to get rid of their “inconvenient poor relatives,” the Eastern European Jews.
The author accuses the political opposition in Hungary, which is widely regarded as liberal and largely Jewish, of selling state property cheaply to the “Western conquerors.”
The author, Aron Monus, is a former Hungarian expatriate who left the country in 1957 and became a French citizen. He returned after the democratic government replaced the Communist regime.
The printer, who produced 5,000 copies of the book, disclaims responsibility for its contents, saying it is not the printing house’s task to check the content of a book unless it is against the state.
One of Hungary’s dailies expressed hope that an investigation would be launched by either the Justice Ministry or Home Affairs Ministry.
