Dissatisfaction with the fact that the present World Zionist Executive is controlled by Laborites was expressed here at the world conference of General Zionists at the opening session last night.
“It is essential to combat the class struggle which is now developing in Palestine together with the growth of the country,” Dr. Schwarzbart, president of the Executive of the General Zionist Organization, stated in his opening speech.
“The situation in Palestine, as well as in the countries of the Diaspora, demands a consolidated front of General Zionism,” Dr. Schwarzbart continued. “We do not oppose the Laborites. We are, however, not willing to join them in their Socialist program.”
LOCKER ATTENDS
Berl Locker, Laborite member of the World Zionist Executive, who is present at the conference, assured the gathering that he did not come to capture the conference. It is highly important that a sane spirit should prevail in the ranks of the Zionist Organization, he said.
Ben-Zion Mossinson, leader of the General Zionists in Palestine, emphasized that while it is possible that Palestine will continue its civic growth, it is also possible that a sudden crisis may affect the country. Mr. Mossinson demanded that the General Zionists establish their own labor organization.
