Funeral services were held yesterday for Charles Nathanson, popular Yiddish actor who died Tuesday in the Home for Incurables, Brooklyn, where he had been sent two years ago by the Theatrical Alliance. He was sixty-three years old.
Nathanson was born in Minsk and was brought here by his parents at an early age. He began his theatrical career while still very young and later went to Europe where he gained fame as a singer. In 1899 he returned to America and played a number of roles with such stars of the Yiddish stage as Jacob Adler and David Kessler.
The funeral was from Sigmund Schwartz’s Funeral Parlor, 312 East Fifth street. Expenses were paid by the Theatrical Alliance. Burial was at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
