The second interest payment on State of Israel Independence bonds bearing three and one-half percent interest becomes payable on May 1 and may be deposited for payment at local banks from that date on, Rudolf G. Sonneborn, president of the bond drive organization, announced here today. He added that this payment is due on bonds dated on or before November 1, 1951, revealing that interest on bonds dated after November 1 has already been paid to bondholders.
Many of the celebrations throughout the United States marking the fourth anniversary of Israel’s independence will be devoted to the bond drive. One of the most spectacular of these celebrations will take place in New York where 30,000 people will attend a gala performance, admission to which will be the purchase of an Israeli bond. Israeli Ambassador Abba Eban and Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, U.S. delegate to the United Nations, will be the featured speakers at the New York affair.
