Showing of Picture in Eastern Europe Will Lead to Violence (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
The exhibition of Cecil de Mille’s moving picture, “King of Kings” in East European countries will be fatal for the safety of the Jewish population. This is the opinion of Dr. Ludwig Hollaender, director of the Central Verein Deutschen Staatsbuerger des Jucdischen Glaubens, writing today in the “C. V. Zeitung.”
The showing of this film will increase the danger of the growth of anti-Semitism in Eastern Europe and will incite the ignorant population to violence, Dr. Hollaender declares. He comments in particular on what he terms the shameful fact that the Schildkrauts, father and son, are playing in the picture, in the roles of Caiphas and Judas.
