The senior class of the Columbia Grammar School has established a fund in memory of Dr. George Alexander Kohut, late headmaster of the school, it was announced Friday night at the 170th annual commencement exercises of the institution. The fund, which already amounts to several hundred dollars, will be used to purchase books for the school library.
Dr. Kohut’s will bequeathed more than 500 volumes to the school.
Forty students were graduated at the exercises, which took place at the American Women’s Association Club house, 353 West Fifty-seventh street. Speakers included Arthur Stern, Leonard Hammer, David Greenberg and Alan Streisand. Frederick Alden is headmaster.
