Mass dismissals of Jewish doctors from Vienna hospitals began today. Eight doctors were dismisses from the Lainz Hospital, twenty doctors from other hospitals. At the same time notice was given to many others that their contracts would not be renewed. Altogether there were sixty Jewish doctors in Vienna hospitals. The majority of them had been employed for years.
Allegations were made yesterday that Jewish doctors had assaulted school girls in the course of school examinations. Dr. Richard Schmuetz, newly appointed mayor of Vienna, addressing a conference of priests, promised to dismiss all Jewish doctors employed by the state.
