House Gets Resolution Calling for Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Germany

A bi-partican group of representatives today introduced a House resolution calling for a Presidential commission of inquiry on Germany, identical to a measure entered in the Senate April 17 by eight Senators.

Rep. Celler said he was concerned over the extension of authority over displaced persons to German civil courts in view of the fact that 80 percent of judges and prosecuting attornoys are former Nazis. He called attention to the situation of Jewish DP’s whose rights are endangered in the German civil courts.
