Israel will receive $70,228,000 for the relief and rehabilitation of Jewish refugees in the compromise of the Mutual Security Aid Bill approved by the Senate-House conference. In addition, Israel will receive $2,772,000 in technical assistance.
The compromise restored half of the difference between the Senate and House allocations for Israel. The House had retained the full amount of $76,000,000 recommended by the Administration, but the Senate had slashed this amount to $64,456,000 in general across-the-board cuts. Both Houses are expected to approve the compromise.
