Discussion on the Fellows Bill calling for the admission of 200,000 displaced persons to the United States in the next two years will being in the House on Monday, the House Rules Committee announced today.
The Fellows Bill differs from the Wiley-Revercomb DP measure, approved this week in the Senate by a vote of 63 to 13, in that Jewish DP’s would be permitted to enter this country in proportion to the number of Jewish refugees being aided by the International Refugee organization.
Under the terms of the Senate-approved measure, no more than about 20,000 Jewish refugees would be able to enter the United States, it was estimated here today. The Senate measure also excludes many Jews who fled Eastern European countries to Germany after the war by providing that only persons registered as DP’s on Dec. 22, 1945 are eligible for consideration as DP immigrants.
