The sixtieth birthday of Bronislav Huberman, Jewish refugee violinist who founded the Palestine Symphony Orchestra, was marked here today by the award of the Huberman Prize for Music to Alexander Boskowitz.
At the same time the Tel Aviv municipality announced the winners of the annual Bialik awards for literature and science. Haim Hazaz won the prize for literary achievements, while Dr. Nahum Sluschtch was honored for his research work in the field of science.
The eighty-second birthday of the late Ludwig Zamenhoff, father of Esperanto, the international language, was observed here today by the Palestine Esperanto Club which is one of the few places in the country where Jews and Arabs meet for the purpose of fostering general humanitarian ideals. Arab and Jewish speakers addressed the gathering.
