An estimated 100 Americans now in Israel joined today in a “Tel Aviv March” in support of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom which got underway in the American capitol this morning.
The delegation was received by American Embassy officials who accepted a petition from the marchers asking for enactment of President Kennedy’s civil rights legislation. Among the marchers were seven American Negroes.
Police held traffic back to assure a quick and unimpeded approach for the marchers to the Embassy building. They carried posters with the slogans “Support the Washington March” and “Americans for Integration.”
