Hundreds of East End families left homeless by German air raids have been evacuated elsewhere. The London Jewish Hospital, in the heart of the East End, has been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Prof. Selig Brodetsky president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews; Otto Schiff and A.G. Brotman toured the damaged areas, conferred with local officials and arranged to supply volunteer relief workers. They issued a statement praising the morale of the inhabitants and paying tribute to cooperation between Jews and Gentiles in the East End.
