Hundreds of people gathered near Philadelphia on Wednesday for the funeral of novelist and Jewish scholar Chaim Potok. Potok, 73, the author of “The Chosen,” “The Promise” and “My Name Is Asher Lev,” died Tuesday morning of brain cancer. Family members, friends, colleagues and fans congregated at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El in Wynnewood, Pa., for the funeral.
