Hungary’s Jewish organizations tonight addressed a joint protest to Parliament against Premier Koloman Daranyi’s bill proposing economic, professional and cultural discrimination against the nation’s Jews.
The protest charged the project was unconstitutional because it violated the equal rights accorded to Hungarian Jews in 1867. Jews have lived in this country nearly 1,000 years and have always shown themselves patriotic citizens, the memorandum declared. It concluded with an appeal to the Catholic and Protestant clergy and to all good Christians.
