The Bethlen government has resigned. This ministry took office in April, 1921. Count Bethlen handed the resignation of his Cabinet to Regent Horthy yesterday. It is understood that he will be asked to reconstruct his ministry next week.
President von Scitovszky of the National Assembly is slated for the all-important post of Minister of Interior, succeeding M. Rakovsky, resigned. Louis Valeo, Bethlen’s Trade Minister, becomes Foreign Minister, a portfolio held by the Premier himself. M. Herman will become Minister of Trade.
JUDEA INDUSTRIAL CORP. ESTABLISHES JEWISH INSURANCE COMPANY IN N. Y.
The formation of a Jewish insurance company in New York state was announced in the “Journal of Commerce,” New York. The new company, which will be known as the Judea Life Insurance Company, will have its headquarters in New York City. The stock of the new company will be owned by the Judea Insurance Company, Ltd., of Palestine, which is in turn owned by the Judea Industrial Corporation.
All of the incorporators of the new life company are interested in the upbuilding of Palestine, and the ownership of the stock of the domestic company by the Judea Insurance Company, of Palestine permits the dividends of the domestic company to be transmitted to the company in Palestine. The investments of the Palestine company are made primarily with a view to building up the Jewish home land. Many who are interested in the Zionist movement have promised to assist the new domestic company.
The Judea Insurance Company, Ltd., of Palestine, in addition to owning the stock of the New York company, also has a branch in Egypt. While it has only been doing business for a comparatively short time it has made steady progress. Considerable business, it is said, has been done with Arabs and other non-Jewish people.
The incorporators of the domestic company are the following: Max Fanwick, Leopold Kehlmann, Morris Gerst, Jacob Ish-Kishor, Sol Friedland, Nathan Valk, Moses Lithvin, Simon Funchsman, David Podolsky, Max Weinerman, Louis Hochberg, Samuel Mason, Theodore R. Racoosin and Jacob S. Strahl.
