A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry today sharply attacked reports in the Austrian press which stated that Jews were fleeing Hungary in fear of pogroms, (Austrian Minister of the Interior Oskar Helmer last month said that an increasing number of refugees were arriving in Austria from Eastern Europe, from where they were fleeing in fear of their lives.)

The “Jewish Road,” Zionist weekly, made its appearance here over the weekend. The publication was recently given permission to appear, after almost a year of appeals. The first issue carried on its front page the statement on Palestine made at the United Nations by Soviet delegate Andrei Gromyko.
