The Hungarian Government is opposed to emigration from the country, including Jewish emigration to Palestine, until a peace treaty with the Allies has been concluded, the press chief of the Foreign Ministry announced today.
He pointed out that under the terms of the armistice “free travelling” in and out of the country is forbidden. During the press conference he was asked why the Government had not yet released Zionist officials arrested for alleged smuggling of Nazis out of the country, although it has been admitted that they are innocent. The press director did not reply but promised to bring the matter to the attention of the Government.
