Hungarian Jews Seen Dependent on Liberalism

The dependence of the Hungarian Jews on the liberal movement of the country was stressed by Samuel Stern, president of the Budapest Jewish Community, addressing the Hungarian Cobden Union.

Pointing out that the bitterest foes of the achievements of liberalism were in the anti-Semitic front, he said that Hungarian Jewry was an inseparable part of the Hungarian nation.

“Contemplating the part they played in affairs of state, they believe they have the right to proclaim that in the future, too, they should continue to play such a part,” he said.
