Fascist-minded officials are interproting the Hungarian land reform law–which is aimed at breaking up large states and giving land to the peasantry–in a manner prejudicial to Jews, Uj Flet, the official organ of the Jewish community, charges.
The weekly reports the case of a Jewish boy named Gyoergy Loswy, who has been stripped of a small tract of land owned by his family under the new law. The boy’s parents and all of his close relatives were murdered during the fascist regime here.
The newspaper points out that former fascists are allowed to retain land. It cites the case of Kalman Cseh, a former officer in the Hungarian Army, who is to be tried shortly by a war crimes court. Cseh’s land holdings were seized, but he was given other land in another part of the country as compensation.
The desecration of a Jewish cometery in Kecel, near the town of Kaloosa, was reported here today. The municipal council of Kecel recently appealed to Jewish organizations in Budapest to send them Jewish physicians since the town is without a single doctor.
