The Hungarian Minister of Education, Balint Homan, today denied that there is an excessive number of Jewish students in Hungarian Universities. He pointed out that less than nine percent of the students enrolled in the University of Budapest were Jewish, and the percentage of Jews in all the universities did not exceed nine and one-half percent.
Minister Homan therefore urged the universities to keep the students within the bounds of the law, for otherwise the authorities would be compelled to proceed against anti-Semitic students creating disturbances.
He further declared that the anti-Semitic student groups have no cause to complain, since the government is doing everything within its power to supply posts for the graduates of the Hungarian universities.
Hungarian anti-Semitic student groups are now on strike against the government demanding the introduction of numerus clauses against the Jewish students and various other measures against the Jews in Hungary.
