The Hungarian press today criticized the United States for admitting Ferene Vajta, a major war executed last year. Vajta, who went to the U.S. from Italy, to where he fled to avoid arrest, published and directed the publication of much anti-Semitic literature.

(The Hungarian weekly Az Ember, published in New York, this week appealed to president Truman, in an open letter, to probe the circumstances around Vajta’s admission. It charged that the Hungarian Nazi, who is now living in a mid-town Manhat?an hotel, shared responsibility for the murder of thousands of Jews.)
