A regulation issued by the Hungarian State Railways has provoked keen discussion in the press here. The State Railways have issued a “secret order” to the effect that if railway guards observe any Jewish passenger “praying in accordance with Jewish orthodox rites and thereby interfering with the other passengers,” he should be at once prohibited from continuing his journey.
Tarsadalmuk and Egyenloeseg strongly criticize this order and point out the absurdity of treating any person saying his prayers as a disturber of the peace. Tarsadalmuk calls the government’s attention to this order and expresses the hope that it will be recalled as soon as possible.
