The slight concessions granted by the Hungarian Minister of Education in the application of the numerus clausus to Jewish student in the Hungarian universities caused a violent protest on the part of the anti-Semitic leaders among the students.
Large groups of anti-Semitic students, led by the Hungarian Race Purifiers, demonstrated along the streets of Budapest today, protesting against the ministerial ordinance. The police intervened, dispersing the demonstrators.
The concessions granted by the Minister were to the effect that Jewish converts to Christianity are not to be subject to the numerus clausus and that the percentage of Jewish students admitted to the universities and colleges should not be based on the general enrollment in all the universities and colleges, but that each college should be considered separately.
