Hungary Forces Jewish Shops to Keep Open Holidays

Emulating the Rumanian Government, the Hungarian authorities today issued a decree obliging Jewish shopkeepers to keep their premises open on Saturday, the Jewish sabbath, and on holy days. Heavy fines and even loss of license are provided for violation. The decree is seen as directed against orthodox Jews in northeast Hungary
