The Budapest radio announced today that all Jews born in 1909, 1912, 1915 and 1918 are being called up for immediate military service and will be assigned to labor battalions on the sectors of the Russian front which are being held by the Hungarian forces.
Reports reaching here in recent months disclosed that about a quarter of a million Hungarian Jews are already in labor battalions at the front, where they are used to construct fortifications and roads under heavy enemy fire with little protection, and in general, are mistreated by the Hungarian officers, receiving little food and clothing.
