Fadhil Jamali, Foreign Minister of Iraq, was tonight scheduled to meet with Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin. It is understood that they will discuss the Palestine situation.
Meanwhile, a Foreign Office spokesman denied that the government has presented ?te to Iraq warning against military intervention in Palestine. However, he added ?t the government has repeatedly requested the Iraq Government to exercise the “ut? restraint” on the Palestine question. The spokesman also denied a Swiss radio report to the effect that the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem was now in London.
A new organization, “The Arab Friendship Committee,” has been formed here to ?lect the names of Britons who desire to fight for the Arabs in Palestine. The organization is careful to turn the names over to the Arab Office, stating that it is ? recruiting soldiers, a practice which might be considered treasonous. The secretary of the committee, I.G.W. Shaw, claims that he has collected some 2,000 names.
