I. Goldenberg Dead in Washington at 62

Funeral services for Isaac Goldenberg prominent Washington merchant who died here late Monday afternoon, was held yesterday morning with Dr. Abram Simon of the Washington Congregation officiating. Interment was in the Washington Hebrew Congregation Cemetery.

Mr. Goldenberg, a native of Kestrich, Germany, was 62 years old. He came to this country as a young man and worked in Baltimore, Md., at the department store of Goldenberg & Bros., operated by his uncles.

From Baltimore, he came to Washington thirty-eight years ago when the late Moses Goldenberg, one of the uncles who had been operating the Baltimore store, founded the present Goldenberg Department Store here and placed Isaac in charge. In 1932 he became one of the owners and president of the Goldenberg Department Store.

Mr. Goldenberg was a member of the Washington Board of Trade, the Merchants and Manufacturers’ Association, the Woodmont Country Club, the Central Seventh Street Merchants’ Association.

Mr. Goldenberg is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen G. Goldenberg: a daughter, Mrs. Louis Baum; a son, Alan; an infant grandchild and two brothers, Dr. Karl Goldenberg of this city, and Joseph Goldenberg of Atlantic City, N. J.
