Ian Mikardo,66, Immediate past-chairman of the British Labor Party and Labor member of Parliament, has been elected chairman of the Parliamentary Labor Party (the Labor faction in Parliament, and now of great importance because Labor is in government). Mikardo is on the left of the party, and he defeated a candidate from the right of the party, Arthur Bottomley, by 99-85 votes. Mikardo is a life-long Zionist, and an inactive member of the Poale Zion. His time and his great abilities are devoted to the Labor Party.
