A film depicting the work of the Jewish Colonization Association in the Argentine, was shown here last night to representatives of various organizations and of the press, in connection with the meeting of the Council of the Ica, which has just opened here.
Among those present at the showing of the film were the Military Attache of the Argentine Legation in Paris, M. Franz Philippson, President of the Council of the Ica; Herr James Simon, President of the Hilfsverein der Deutschen Juden; Dr. Oscar Kohn; Dr. Alfred Klee; Leo Motzkin; Louis Oungre; M. Edouard Oungre; Rabbi Weil, Rabbi Liber and Rabbi Eisenstadt; Dr. M. Krainin, President of the Emigdirekt; Dr. Latzki Bertholdi; M. Bigar, Secretary-General of the Alliance Israelite, and M. Berl, Editor of “Paix et Droit,” the organ of the Alliance Israelite Universelle.
Professor Solomon Reinach delivered an address on the activities of the Ica, tracing its origin from the time when Baron de Hirsch first entered into negotiations with the Russian Government for the purpose of obtaining an alleviation of the position of the Jews of the Russian Empire.
