Ida Kaminska, director of the Polish Government Yiddish Folk Theater in Warsaw, and recognized as the leading Yiddish theatrical personality in the world, arrived here yesterday for a brief visit, and left today for Hollywood.
Miss Kaminska is visiting the United States specifically in connection with the showing in this country of the Czech-made film, “The Shop on Main Street,” which has been widely praised by critics as one of the finest movies ever made on the theme of the Nazi holocaust. She plays the leading feminine role in that film. After a short stays in Hollywood, Washington and New York, Miss Kaminska plans to return to Warsaw at the end of this month.
